Sunday School News

Here we are at the beginning of another school year.  Where did our summer go?  I hope that you all enjoyed our great Wisconsin weather and had a lot of fun family gatherings.  Sunday school is set up and ready to receive our children back for another year of learning Scripture and the Good News of God’s grace and His gift of life through Christ Jesus, our Lord.  We are ready for you but are you ready for us?  Will you send your children regularly to Sunday school this year?

The benefits of Sunday school are many but the two most significant are: 1) learning God’s Word and 2) making church friends.  I mention church friends because most of our children’s friends are found in their neighborhoods and at school.  If our children don’t make friends at church they will resist going to Sunday school, confirmation, Camp Luther and youth group because they don’t know anyone and don’t have friends there.  Fellowship isn’t just for adults.  Our children need to know that our church family has lots of friends for them too!

And that leads me to our studies for this year.  Our 1st through 5th graders will be continuing their study of our founding “church family” in Genesis.  Beginning with Isaac, they will learn how God works through His chosen people to accomplish the salvation and restoration of His church.  The theme of our curriculum for our grade school children this year is “God Chooses”.  It is God who chooses His people and we respond to Him.  As sinful people, we are incapable of reaching out to God without His first reaching down to us.  God Chooses.  The pre-school/kindergartners will begin the year with the history of creation.

It promises to be a great year in Sunday School.  We are looking forward to seeing all our children there!

“It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God”  Ephesians 4:11-12
