2007-2008 Schedule

Our Mission is from Ephesians 4:11-13:

It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

Preschool through Kindergarten – This year we will be trying something new for our younger children. They will continue with the traditional “Growing in Christ” Concordia Curriculum – however, Sunday school will start for Preschool and kindergarten right after the children’s sermon (about 9:55 am) and run to about 10:45 am. The children will be excused with their teacher after the children’s sermon and will go to their classroom. Their schedule will look something like this:

    Church 9:30 – about 9:55
    Class time 9:55 – about 10:15
    Music 10:15 – 10:30
    Class time 10:30 – 10:45

We hope that this change will give our younger children both the opportunity to spend some time in church with their families and then be excused for the activity of the classroom. They will join the older children when they gather to sing Bible songs and then return to their classroom. We also hope this change will allow the parents to focus on the adult sermon.

First through Fifth Grades – We will be continuing to teach our older children scripture and Bible accounts through our workshop curriculum. These children will continue to be in church with their families through the adult sermon. Their schedule will look like this:

    Church 9:30 – about 10:15
    Music 10:15 – 10:30
    Class time 10:30 – 11:15

BUT this year we are adding monthly Scripture memorization. The Christ Lutheran Church Memory Verse Program is designed to encourage our children to memorize Holy Scripture. Children are rewarded for learning each memory verse. The reward is a prize they pick out of our “Treasure Box”. Each month has a Scripture for the children to memorize that supports the lessons for the month and each month the prize is different. Our goal is for children to learn Scripture, therefore, we will accept a memorized Scripture at anytime – not just during the designated month. We firmly believe in the positive spiritual benefit of Scripture memorization. Please help your children to learn the memory verses. If you do not have children in Sunday school you can help by encouraging the children you know to learn the verses.

Our verse for September is: “..man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.” Deuteronomy 8:3b
